The Japanese government has issued a visa to Rebiya Kadeer, the exiled separatist leader from China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, according to Kyodo News.
Kadeer is scheduled to leave the US for Japan on October 20. It will be her first visit to the country after Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama came to power on September 16. During her stay, Kadeer will attend college exchange meetings in Tokyo, Kyushu and Kansai.
In July this year, Kadeer's visit to Japan and her meeting with members of the former ruling Liberal Democratic Party drew public ire in China. The Chinese government also condemned her for jeopardizing relations between the two countries.
