China's National Tourism Administration has announced plans to boost the tourist industry in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
Under the plan, entrance tickets for popular tourist sites and prices for star-rated hotels will be cut by a half. And tourist groups flying to Xinjiang on China Southern Airlines can also enjoy a 50 percent discount. These specific promotions will run until August 31.
The Administration says it is launching a nationwide campaign to attract visitors to Xinjiang. Its data showed that the number of tourists visiting Xinjiang's scenic spots in early August climbed 40 percent compared to the same period last year.
