Foreign envoys in China visit Xinjiang after July 5

Diplomatic envoys in China are visiting the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwest China. They have called for closer cooperation within the international community to crack down on terrorism after visiting an exhibition on the July 5th riot.

On Monday, diplomats to China from 26 countries arrived in the regional capital of Urumqi.

Their five-day visit was at the invitation of the regional government.

Regional government chairman Nur Berkri briefed the guests on the development of Xinjiang over the past several decades.

On Tuesday, diplomats toured local enterprises and visited an exhibition on the July 5th riot in Urumqi.

They became the first group of foreign visitors to the exhibition.

More than 400 pictures taken by photographers during the July 5th riot impressed the diplomats.
